  Steve and Travis take win at Falls and Championship for the Year!!

  After several second place finishes Steven Davis and Travis Leonard finally broke the spell placing first at Falls Lake. The weather had finally begun to cool a little and clouds early in tournament promised a few sprinkles in the early hours of the tournament. Heavy rains never showed making it a terrific day on the water. As the day heated  up things were going well for Steve and Travis for a possible first place win. When everyone came to weigh-in the 8.30 lb
bag gave them a first place.

Paul O'Neal and David Treadway came in second with 7.80 lbs. Jody McRoberts and Rodney Jones took third with 5.13 lbs. Bill Jones and Jonathon Jones placed fourth with 5.12 lbs. Todd Bullin and Ron Woodroof placed fifth with 2.10 lbs and Wes Motsinger and Katie Motsinger placed sixth with 1.80 lbs

Battle on Jordan, Warriors Win, Anglers say Thank You!!

The sun came up on New Hope Boat Ramp Cove exposing to its light 150 boats proudly carrying 150 US soldiers for The Warriors on the Water 5^th Annual Military Appreciation Bass Tournament. The lights on the boats drifted like hundreds of colored fireflies as steam rose off the water in the early morning hours. These soldiers have sacrificed much home, family, permanent injury and even risking death protecting what we so often take for granted, OUR FREEDOM. Volunteers for the event began arriving as early as 2:00 am to help out with the tournament put together by three retired military soldiers who wanted to give something back and found a truly special way to do so that has received an overwhelming response from the fishing community as well as fish related retailers and local sponsors. Some of the soldiers participating came from as far away as Fort Campbell, KY and a few of the volunteering anglers traveled distances just as far to be able to say thank you in person to these brave soldiers.  The Golden Knights put on a spectacular display of paratrooper skydiving that awed the crowd into silence as they watched them drift to the launch ramp landing displaying the our nations colors as the national anthem rang out across the lake. These paratroopers executed precision maneuvers in the air that were narrated by an officer on the ground, coming to earth to alight on an exact target like an eagle to its prey. Shortly afterward the 150 boats roared to life and one by one launched according to their flights, symbolically red, white then blue, each one tossing about in the previous boat's wake like a dinghy in a hurricane, to be the first to reach their starting spot. For about 7 hours anglers and soldiers alike threw everything but the kitchen sink, and truth be told even a few of them may have been thrown, to try to load the boat for bragging rights and a chance to win some great prizes and a amazing trophy  specially designed for this event. As boats began arriving back for weigh-in the smiles on the soldier’s faces told of the day they had on the water with their angler being carefree and relaxed, and not a care in the world, just being fisherman. All that time on the water meant 300 hungry soldiers, anglers, and volunteers sponsors feed each and every one to bursting during weigh-in.  The lines to the scales stretched out from under the tent and extended into the parking lot area as they lined up to find out where they ranked and show off what haul they came off the lake with. A total of 202 bass weighing 689 lbs and 8oz were brought to the scales by smiling soldiers and anglers. This event was truly all about the soldiers and it was their day to shine, which they did with Military pride and style, representing all four branches of service. Prizes and give-aways were handed out, retired soldiers were honored, and fallen soldiers where memorialized, few left without something to recall the day. With the event coming to a close many soldiers and anglers traded information vowing to keep in touch having connected that day on the water. The busses loaded and boats trailered the long journey home called an end to the day’s festivities. Until next year when once again there will be Warriors On the Water……..
